Founders, Lou Dortch, Sr. and Lou Dortch, Jr., have worked in the restaurant business since 1987 and founded Great Lakes Taco in 2017. Great Lakes Taco started as a 21 store acquisition and has grown to 27 locations in southeast Michigan with plans to grow aggressively.

Troy Dortch opened his first dry cleaning plant and drop off store in downtown Flint, Michigan and named it Troy Cleaners.

Lou Dortch, Jr. joins the business. The father and son team grow Troy Cleaners to one of the largest dry cleaning operations in the state with 16 locations and hundreds of employees.
Lou Dortch, Sr. and Jr. enter the restaurant business, purchasing their first Subway franchise and open a location on Dort Highway in Flint, Michigan.
The father and son team grow the Subway business to 70 locations and become the largest franchisee in the state of Michigan. The company is now referred to as Dortch Enterprises.
Dortch Enterprises sells 33 Subway restaurants and enters the Taco Bell system. Lou Dortch, Jr. purchases 21 locations from the Taco Bell Company.
Dortch opens an additional four Taco Bell locations.
Dortch opens an additional two Taco Bell locations.
